Henry Ford LiveWell is Henry Ford Health System’s wellness center of excellence and aims to optimize the well-being of Henry Ford employees, patients and community members. At Henry Ford, we view wellness as a lifelong journey taken by everyone in their own unique way, rather than as a destination achievable by only a few. Our aim is to meet people wherever they are on their own journey to help improve and support well-being and health. The Center creates collaborative partnerships and promotes innovative approaches to the wellness journey.

Dr. Wisdom provides strong leadership in community health and wellness education, focusing on clinical quality and patient safety, and cultural competency. She served as Michigan’s first Surgeon General, appointed by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm in 2003. In February 2012, Dr. Wisdom was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as a member of the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health.
She also founded and directed both the Institute of Multicultural Health at Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) and a National Minority Quality Forum award-winning community-based health screening initiative entitled “AIMHI” (African American Initiative for Male Health Improvement), which focused on improving the health of those disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes. Dr. Wisdom is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of Michigan (UM) Medical Center, and serves as adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at UM School of Public Health.
She is the recipient of numerous awards, has authored several peer-reviewed publications, and appeared on national television, including ABC’s Nightline, and has presented to audiences across the country and internationally.
Dr. Wisdom is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician.
